Students at a Writing Hub workshop

Writing Strategy Sessions

Writing Strategy Sessions offer students in the College Writing Programs supplemental resources for writing through interactive sessions led by our writing consultants.

These sessions aim to enhance students' familiarity with the writing process, reinforce critical thinking competencies, build confidence in writing, and nurture a sense of community and belonging with writing!

Writing Strategy Sessions are 1 hour sessions offered from weeks 2-9 in Fall Quarter. Our consultants will lead a 30 minute discussion on a topic related to academic writing, with the rest of the time dedicated to community writing on individual assignments from your CWP courses. Our consultants will be available for the rest of the time for any questions you have or feedback you would like to receive.

Our consultants will cover 4 distinct topics over the course of this quarter. Here is a preview for each topic and the week of the quarter when our consultants will lead the topic:

Weeks 2-3: Introduction to Academic Writing

Weeks 4-5: Critical Reading Skills

Weeks 6-7: Writing a Research Paper

Weeks 7-9: Writing as Revising

Writing Strategy Sessions are available for all students who are taking a course in their college’s writing program. To attend, we ask students to reserve a spot through WCOnline on our Writing Strategy Session calendar. The process to reserve a spot is similar to booking a 1:1 appointment.
